INSCRIBED: “To Alex Stock, remembering happy times, from P.D.F.M.” An elementary biology textbook written by Patrick Desmond Fitzgerald Murray, Professor of Zoology, University of Sydney, with medical students in mind, but of interest to a broader audience. It contains extended sections on mammalian anatomy, elementary physiology, parasitology, and genetics, with detailed illustrative diagrams throughout. Graduating from the University of Sydney with first-class honours in botany and zoology, the university medal for zoology, and the John Coutts scholarship, Murray went on to study experimental embryology at Oxford. He returned to Sydney in 1924 to become Macleay fellow of the Linnean Society of New South Wales. This popular textbook was written while Murray was a reader in biology and comparative anatomy at St Bartholomew’s Hospital medical school, London. A review pamphlet of the book by Douglas Dewar is laid in.

General wear to cloth and boards. Minimal ghostings of library stickers to spine and upper panel, date stamp to to title page, no other library markings. Bookplate of Professor Alex Stock together with an inscription to him from the author. Good Condition.
