The early 1970s saw a boom in mail order shopping in America, allowing customers to discreetly order specialty items unavailable to the general public through retail stores. The Custom Shoe Company specialised in fetish footwear -erotic heels often in patent leather and always high to extend the length of the leg and redistribute body mass, “designed for the beauty of the leg”. Mail order catalogue includes ‘exotic platforms, bizarre boots, fashion boots, men’s boots, nostalgic sandals, shoes for dress and romance’ and more.
