First edition in a quarter cloth binding of probably the greatest book on peyote and its active ingredient, mescaline. Published after years of experimentation on humans and animals in the 1920s it includes a 200 page appendix of trip reports of thirty-two subjects, mostly comprised of Beringer’s colleagues and medical students at the Heidelberg University psychiatric clinic. Not yet translated into English this work “gives a clear cut description of the psychic and somatic symptoms..of mescaline” (HOLMSTEDT, Ethnopharmacologic Search for Psychoactive Drugs).
Previously rebound without the original wrappers. Rubbing to spine label. Ex-Institut fur Anthropologia und Erbbiologie der Universitat Wurzburg, minor annotation to title, stamp to foreword and first page, no other library markings. Very minor general wear. Very Good Condition.
