From 1937 until his sudden death Dhirendra Nath Majumdar (1903-1960) spent many summers in the field of the Jaunsar-Bawar region, especially among the Khasa people. This book, published posthumously, is the result of those studies and of his observations of the changing caste structures of rural villages through community development work. D. N. Majumdar was a pioneer of Indian anthropological research, head of the Department of Anthropology at Lucknow University, and founding editor of Eastern Anthropologist.

Book is in Very Good Plus condition, by which we mean it has very light marks of age and/or wear from light handling, but is still a desirable copy. Very Good Condition.
