    Program for the Taisho 9 (1920) Kamogawa Odori spring dance, an annual dance still held today in Kyoto and established in 1872. During the 1930s the dance was famously visited by Jean Cocteau and Charlie Chaplin. The program features illustrations and photographs of performance spaces; theatres and tea houses, and approximately 150 portrait photographs of the performers, geisha and maiko, with their names in English and Japanese. Text is in Japanese, except for the portrait captions and a one page history of the dance in English. Period advertisements for Asahi, and local businesses. No holdings in OCLC prior to 1929.

    Minor creasing to wrappers corners. Very Good Condition.
