A special edition of Purple Diamond: Official Organ of the Seventh Division Engineers’ Association, being the prisoner of war diary of Albert Edward Field. A near daily account of his experiences held in a Japanese POW camp from January 1942 to September 1945. These diary entries provide insight into prisoner life at the hands of the Japanese and was used as evidence during war crime trials and as source material for Lionel Wigmore’s ‘The Japanese Thrust’, being volume 4 in the 22 volume Australia in the War of 1939-1945 series.
