    Albumen photograph of Victoria House, home to the Grimes and Petty retail and offices on the corner of Queen and Albert Streets, Brisbane. Designed by Richard Gailey and constructed by Henry Holmes between 1881 and 1883, this prominent feature of 1880s construction in Brisbane consisted of three floors and a basement with a 70-foot frontage along Queen Street and ran from the corner of Albert Street to the corner of Burnett Lanet containing the drapery business of William D. Grimes and Richard George Petty . The building was demolished in the early 1970s. Unknown photographer, this view from the late 1880s, after the awnings were installed in 1885. During this time the building was also home to Beale and Company, sellers of sewing machines and musical instruments and the offices of the Brisbane Exchange, one of a number of stock exchanges in Brisbane at the time.

    Unmounted, with only very minor wear to edges. Near Fine Condition.
