The early 1970s saw a boom in mail order shopping, allowing customers to discreetly order specialty items unavailable to the general public through retail stores. Barbarella’s catalogue offered erotic toys and novelties including vibrators, washable and reusable condoms, penis prosthetics, stimulators, lingerie, latex and rubber wear, as well as erotic books and films.
