Born in Brisbane and growing up in Beaudesert, Reverend Mavor was accepted as a candidate for the Methodist Church of Australasia in 1954, later going on to serve as Moderator of the Queensland Synod of the Uniting Church in 1988-89 and as the 8th National President of the Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia from 1997 to 2000. He was awarded an OA in 1999. Signed and inscribed by John Mavor.
