Dick Matena, a top Dutch cartoonist and comic book writer, sketches a nightmarish world. “The Preacher” is deliberately provocative containing corrupted biblical quotes, horror and sexual acts explicitly shown. “Matena’s drawings are beautiful: spacious drawings, in which figures and backgrounds with a minimum of brush strokes are put on paper. This comic is a continuation of ‘Amen’, which appeared in 1980.”
