The Definitive Edition of Nietzsche’s first published book with the new title The Birth of Tragedy Or: Greekness and Pessimism, of which there are 576 copies recorded. Considered the Definitive Edition as it is the first printing to contain all of Nietzsche’s corrections together with the first printing of the new preface, Attempt at Self-Criticism (Versuch einer Selbstkritik), with the original title Die Geburt der Tragodie aus dem Geiste der Musik appearing on the half-title and including the original preface to Richard Wagner.

Minor rubbing and wear to board edges which have been refurbished. Minor to moderate foxing to last few pages, minor elsewhere. Very Good Condition.
