A detailed work on the planting of eucalyptus in California. Kinney worked as chairman of the California Board of Forestry and established America’s first forestry station. One of the projects of the station was the study of introduced eucalyptus, a species which Kinney keenly promoted. Drawing upon the assistance of Baron Ferdinand Von Mueller and countless Australian botanists and foresters Kinney describes, at times poetically, the general nature of eucalyptus, as well as detailed botanical observations, and results from studies of their growth in the United States. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographic plates.

Rebound in a decorative quarter leather binding without the half-title. Partial cracking to front and rear hinge. Previous owner’s name. Very Good Condition.
