A collection of more than 150 comedic ballads, written in Australia in the 1890s by journalist William Goodge. Many were originally published in the Orange Leader, several in the Bulletin, and one in The Sunday Times. This book preceded Australian humorist poet C. J. Dennis by several decades, but was considered the superior “light verse” work by Norman Lindsay, who illustrated the reprint volume.

Mottling and wear to cloth, tanning to spine with chipping to the head and small closed tear to the head of the rear joint. Tanning to endpapers, minor foxing elsewhere. Bookseller label of Thomson Bros., Brisbane, signature of W. A. Morrow dated 1899. Good Condition.
