Ten etchings by the Japanese painter Tatsuhiko Yokoo (1928-2015), each responding to a different poem from Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal. One of 15 numbered copies on Fukui paper reserved for the artist and collaborators (from a total edition of 50). Each plate signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. Accompanied by a title leaf with a list of plates in French and Japanese, an artist’s preface with an excerpt from the corresponding poem for each plate on its verso, and a printed plate with a portrait and Japanese text after Baudelaire’s ‘Spleen’. A colophon leaf with the limitation statement in French and Japanese is mounted to the verso of the box lid.
