First Edition.

21cm x 14.5cm. 8 volumes. Pictorial saddle-stapled self-wrappers.

Collection of newsletters and a report issued by the Australian crossdressing organisation The Seahorse Society. Founded in 1971, “the club identified as being for heterosexual transvestites, intentionally distinguishing themselves from homosexuals, fetishists and transsexuals. This was part of an effort to portray transvestism as ‘normal’ and club membership as respectable.” (Noah Riseman: Transgender Australia: A History Since 1910) From the late 1990s, Seahorse began evolving to adopt broader transgender language and advocacy, and is now regarded as Australia’s earliest known trans organisation. The collection comprises: The Seahorse Society of NSW Inc. newsletter (June 1992); The Seahorse Society of New South Wales Inc. Annual Report and Financial Statement (1993–94); and six issues of Seahorse Magazine: December 1993/January 1994, March 1994, April 1994, May 1994, July 1994, and October 1994.

Some issues with an old vertical crease and a minor annotation to front cover. Very Good Condition.
