Dr Henrique Moises Canter is a Brazilian biologist and educator, who wrote ‘Snakes: Art & Science’ while working at Instituto Butantan, a biological research centre in Sao Paulo. In it, he combines beautiful, anatomically precise full-page illustrations of Brazilian snakes with extensive notes on their place in Brazilian culture, as well as on the history of illustration in science as a means of understanding nature.
