The intriguing Louize Labe of Lyon (ca. 1524-1566) is said to have fought as a man for the Dauphin in the siege of Perpignan. Her works convey her seemingly modern attitudes to womanhood. She wrote 24 sonnets. Originally published in 1556, this edition reproducing the original title page on the frontispiece, and with 6 etchings by Bob Bell, produced in an edition of 300, numbered and signed by the artist, this copy out of sequence, unnumbered and unsigned.

Minor tanning and foxing to endpapers, glueing of silk to endpapers weakening. Very Good Condition.
