Brigadier Henry Cecil John Hunt, Baron Hunt, KG, CBE, DSO (1910-1998) was appointed leader of the expedition to climb Mount Everest in 1953. Chapter 16: The Summit, is by Edmund Hillary himself describing the three days before the summit and his and Tenzing’s return to meet the rest of the expedition. He had not initially been in favour of Hunt’s appointment but ends the chapter with “To see the unashamed joy spread over the tired, strained face of our gallant and determined leader was to me reward enough in itself.” This copy signed by John Hunt to the title page.
