    16.5cm x 13cm. [iv], 164, [4] pages, 10 plates. Illustrated wrappers.

An illustrated historical survey of chastity girdles and jealousy, and an investigation into their development from female infibulation (genital mutilation). One of a number of works on erotic subjects authored by British anthropologist, librarian, and psychical researcher, Eric John Dingwall (1890-1986). His interest in sexual customs and his responsibility as librarian of restricted collections at Cambridge and the Library of the British Museum earned him the nickname Dirty Ding, much to his delight. This copy one of a counterfeit edition printed with the anonymously illustrated wrappers (of which this copy is a bright example) and the publisher’s imprint of Paris: Le Divan, 1923, though likely published elsewhere and later than 1931. Includes the 4 page index of subjects and lacking (as issued) the index of authorities quoted as called for in the contents.

Some creasing to wrappers. Very minor soiling to rear cover. Minor tanning to pages. Several long ago dog-earred pages. Very small soil to tail of rear flyleaf and last page of index. Good Condition.
