    2 books of the Bible bound as one, translated from the Original Greek, and illustrated by extracts from the Theological Writings of that eminent servant of the Lord, The Hon. Emanuel Swedenborg. Together with notes and observations of the Translator annexed to each chapter by the Rev. J. Clowes. Both volumes are scarce in any form and rare in the first editions: The Gospel According to John (J. Gleave, 1819), and Luke (W. D. Varey, 1823), with 2 and 5 holdings in OCLC respectively at July, 2021. Emanuel Swedenborg (1688 – 1772) was a Swedish mystic, theologian, philosopher, and scientist. After a successful career as a scientist and inventor, at the age of 53 he had a revelation that Jesus had chosen him to write ‘The Heavenly Doctrine’ to reform Christianity. He published 18 theological works before his death which he predicted. His writings have been very influential around the world, with The New Church or Swedenborgism being founded in 1787. It is still present around Australia.
