One of the few English translations of Czech poet Jan Zahradnicek (1905-1960). As a Catholic he was imprisoned after the communist coup in 1948 and spent the vast remainder of his life in jail before being granted medical amnesty shortly before his death. He was later declared innocent of all crimes. Translated by Thomas Bourke and Josef Horny.
