A comprehensive series of new and authentic maps reduced from the national surveys of the world and the special surveys of travellers and explorers with general index of over two hundred thousand names. Prepared at the Edinburgh Geographical Institute under the direction of J. G. Bartholomew, cartographer to the King. Includes the indexing frame. This copy awarded to Henry Llewelyn Kingsmill for First Class Honours in Engineering at New College, Oxford, with typed and handwritten remarks pasted to the front free endpaper and bearing the college arms to the upper board in gilt.
Rebacked in plain red cloth, hinges reinforced. Minor wear and discolouration to cloth. Moderate foxing and creasing to endpapers. 7cm closed tear to bottom edge of plate 21, professionally repaired with tape. Small rub to top edge of plate 23. Occasional foxing and small closed tear to edges. Creasing to edges of indexing frame. Good Condition.
