The first printing of the first trade edition with the first state publisher’s Autumn 1897 advertisements of one of the classics of science fiction (First appearance as a serial in Pearson’s Magazine). In 1938 Orson Welles produced a radio adaptation which caused panic among some listeners who thought an actual Martian invasion was taking place. CURREY pg. 526.
Minor tanning and soiling to cloth. Very minor bumping to fore-edge corners. Minor patches of insect damage to tail of fore-edge and very minor to top edge. Endpapers tanned. Minor to moderate foxing. Cracking at some gatherings, but still firm. Soiling to gutter of pages 82/83, and with a <1.5cm closed tear to tail edge of page 83. Good Condition.
