    The second issue of The Young Physique, a feature of late 1950s/early 1960s beefcake magazines featuring “the world’s handsomest young bodybuilders” by top physique photographers such as Lon of New York. Starting in 1959 The Young Physique grew out of publisher Joe Weider’s earlier digest sized publications, The Body Beautiful and Adonis, into a full size physique magazine. Weider was an entrepreneurial Canadian bodybuilder who founded the Mr. and Ms. Olympia bodybuilding contests, and was a rare heterosexual among physique publishers.
