Remedios Varo (1908-1963) was an academically trained Spanish painter. After fleeing the Spanish Civil War with the poet Benjamin Peret, she joined the Surrealist’s group in Paris. The occupation of Paris by the Nazis again forced her to flee, this time to Mexico, where she remained for the rest of her life. Her paintings are technically precise but portray subjects of fantasy tales, alchemy, mysticism, and magic. She has only relatively recently become well known outside Mexico.

Foxing to top edge. Minor handling wear and tanning. Very minor shelf wear to jacket with slight discolouration to spine. Very Good Condition.
