Selling rare books in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, South East Queensland, or Northern Rivers / New South Wales regions? The Book Merchant Jenkins is always buying interesting material, from single items to entire collections, and regularly travels interstate and internationally for purchases of significant material.
Jenkins buys rare books of cultural or academic interest in all genres, along with related antiquarian paper materials such as photographs, ephemera, manuscripts, archives, artwork, and maps. Areas of particular interest include (but are not limited to) sexuality, LGBTIQ+, ethnopharmacology, butoh, counterculture, and art.
General reading books are not purchased. Uncertain about what you have? Enquiries are welcome.
Appraisals are by appointment at the Woolloongabba premises. Travel is available for large or special collections. Appointments are available most days. Call or email to confirm availability.
To save you carrying in boxes only to be disappointed, you are welcome to send a clear photo of the spines. For multiple books, a single shelf photo is usually best. This allows for a quick preliminary look and a sense of whether it is worth bringing them in. If photographing is inconvenient (or if you already know the material fits the shop’s interests) you are equally welcome to visit without sending images first. Whichever option is easiest.
Appraisals cannot be offered remotely, books must be inspected in person. Preliminary enquiries by email or telephone can only confirm whether an inspection is likely to be worthwhile.
Receive 50% more when exchanging for in-store credit, eg. $100 cash value is $150 store credit.
