A packing and handling charge of AU$10 for single book and small groups of lots applies. Large box lot(s) are charged at AU$20 per box. Large and fragile lots billed per half-hour.
Postage costs are charged at our contract carrier rates on top of the handling fee and shipped via the most practical carrier, usually Australia Post or DHL, though other couriers may be used.
All amounts stated below are estimates and provided only as a guide. While we endeavour to keep these as accurate as possible actual shipping costs and available shipping services to your destination can vary depending on final packed weight and dimensions, value, any applicable surcharges such as fuel or destination, or a number of other factors. If weight information is provided on a lot this is an unpacked weight and provided only as a guide. The final parcel weight will vary depending on the required packing material.
Domestic Shipping
Most single book lots within Australia will cost $10 to $20 for standard or $10 to $30 for express depending on weight and destination.
Most single box lots from $15 to $30 for standard or $15 to $45 for express.
Remote areas may be more. These amounts do not include the handling charge (min. $10) or the cost of insurance, which is 1% of the total hammer value.
Domestic Standard Shipping Total Cost Examples:
- Single book lot won for $200 and weighing 1kg to Melbourne will cost $22 ($10 handling + $10 shipping + $2 insurance)
- Single book lot won for $1,500 and weighing 1kg to Mount Isa, QLD will cost $38 ($10 handling + $13 shipping + $15 insurance)
- Single box lot won for $100 and weighing 15kg to Sydney will cost $44 ($20 handling + $23 shipping + $1 insurance)
For heavy and multi-box domestic shipments, courier rates work out cheaper than Australia Post. If you have a commercial address available for delivery reduced freight rates are often available. For multi-box heavy deliveries to commercial addresses to many interstate city destinations it can work out at between $10 and $20 per 20kg box.
International Shipping
We ship worldwide to any destination currently serviced by our carriers. The following international rate tables and delivery estimates are provided as a rough guide only. The following rates do not include the handling charge or the cost of insurance, which is 1% of the total hammer value. Please see the examples for a guide to what your estimated final shipping cost may look like but contact us if you would like a more exact quote.
For lots under $200 and weighing less than 1kg a standard air mail service costing $20 is available to most destinations by request with estimated delivery between 10 and 20 days (but can take up to 40 days).
For all other lots DHL or EMS via Australia Post are our preferred carriers:
Priority rates for single book and box lots via DHL (estimated 3 days for delivery). The following rates are provided as an estimate on weight only. If the final size of your parcel is light but has large dimensions a cubic rate may apply. The following rates are based on capital city locations and may have a remote surcharge applied depending on your destination postal code:

- Single book lot won for $2,500 and weighing 3kg to the United States will cost $119 ($10 handling + $69 shipping + $25 insurance + $15 export fee (for parcels over AU$2,000)
- Single book lot won for $500 and weighing 1kg to Germany will cost $57 ($10 handling + $42 shipping + $5 insurance)
- Single box lot won for $100 and weighing 20kg to Japan will cost $229 ($20 handling + $208 shipping + $1 insurance)
For heavy and multi-box international shipments we always endeavour to get the best possible last minute rate. As a guide for heavy parcels to most international destinations you can expect a rate between $8/kg and $12/kg.

- Single box lot won for $100 and weighing 15kg to New Zealand will cost $102 ($20 handling + $81 shipping + $1 insurance)
For international shipments it is the Buyers responsibility to be aware of any export or import limitations, restrictions, duties, taxes, or any other issue which may hinder the delivery of any purchase. The Auctioneer will not be responsible for any tax, duty, licence, or other requirement of an importer. The Auctioneer will not be liable for any cost or damages resulting from the Buyer being unaware of their obligations as an importer.
EU customers especially be aware of any VAT that may apply and be due to the carrier before delivery.
