2025-April-Miscellany

The April Miscellany brings you a varied selection of 162 new acquisitions. The list begins with a focus on photography including many limited editions containing C-Type prints. This is followed by Jenkins’ usual mix of art, architecture, chemistry, Australian sexpapers, natural history, cycling, cricket, surfing, occult, and more.

Some of the highlights include the first edition of Fredrick Accum’s Chemical Amusement, the first Hunter edition of John Evelyn’s Silva: one of the most important works on forestry ever published, the first German book on bridges from 1726, a rare Dutch work on wine from 1628, the occult works of Austin Osman Spare, and the bondage art of Robert K. Bishop.

Other treasures include the wartime Christmas edition of Ink Emma Ink from the Australian Special Wireless Group, an inscribed copy of the biography of wartime stripper hero Lydia Lova, the Australian sci-fi “Yellow Peril” novel Celestia, a rare programme for Jack Chegwyn’s touring cricket team, and a fantastic selection of the artist/architecture books of Made Wijaya.
