Located on the southern tip of Long Island, Fire Island has long been a beachside haven from the claustrophobia of New York City. Goodman’s semi-fictional account of the retreat paints a picture of idyllic gay youth culture during the sexual liberation of the 1960s. This first edition complete with 20 pages of photographs from Fire Island, though illustrated in black and white, show many of the colourful characters in drag. YOUNG 1513*.
