One of the earliest printed periodical news publications and a direct forerunner of the newspaper, collecting reports of events from 1588 to March 1594 in six books covering France, the Low Countries, Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Poland, and neighbouring regions. The first edition, published in 1592, comprised five books and covered events to September of that year. This second edition expands the work to six books, continuing the account to March of 1594. The six books were subsequently incorporated into the expanding multi-volume series, first issued in collected form from 1596, making this the first complete edition of the six books that form the foundation of the Mercurius Gallobelgicus series.
Minor tanning to vellum. The original fore-edge string ties lacking. Very clean interior. Near Fine Condition.
