Complete run of the first five years of Psyche, the monthly journal of a Berlin spiritist association that renamed and rebranded itself over this period as the leading German Spiritist association, closing out its run as the Loge ‘Psyche zur Wahrheit’. Numerous reports on seances and hauntings, arguments over fraudulent versus genuine mediums, spirit photography, telepathy, and more of interest to spiritists, alongside announcements for club lectures and informal gatherings. Contributions include the mesmerist and occult writer Willy Reichel, an ongoing study of the Renaissance magus Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim, a rebuttal of the philosopher Georg von Gizycki’s public attack on spiritism, coverage of the Victorien Sardou play ‘Spiritisme’ on the Berlin stage, an obituary of the medium Valeska Topfer, and much more.
