To which is added Tables of Specific Gravity adapted to the use of the Hydrometer. Reference book of tables for use with the Sikes Hydrometer, a measuring device used to determine the strength of alcoholic spirits. The device was the legal standard for calculating tax and customs on spirits from 1816 to 1907. This is a an undated mid 19th century book of tables.
