English issue of 8 plates of Olga Desmond and Adolf Salge from the 1908 series by German photographer Otto Skowraneck printed from the negatives of the Neue Photographische Gesellschaft m.b.H. (NPG). Includes Venus Anadyomene, Veil-Dance, A Question after R. Boeltzig, Prayer, Park-Nymph, Awakening, Adoration after Stephen Sinding, and Love Play. Desmond was a Berlin performer and dancer who co-founded “Evenings of Beauty”, staging nude and body-painted living statues. The performances were controversial though she always defended her performances as high art.
Minor bump to bottom right corner of folder and paper mounts. One photograph, Love Play, with numerous rub marks and foxing to mount. Other photos Fine to Near Fine, with minor silvering to edges of the photographs, the mounts with very minor foxing. Good Condition.
